Timothy Leary test block

We've been freezing the last couple of nights so I want to make a big, huge quilt for our Cal King bed. (OK, it was in the high 60s, but we thought we were freezing.)

I have two big hunks of material that are big enough to cover our bed. No piecing, I'm just going to make 9-inch blocks and quilt-as-I-go.

Here's the test block that's been ripped more than Timothy Leary ever was:

The fabric for the top is one of the Kaleidoscope screen prints by Hoffman.

The back is a pretty mottled blue flannel by Moda:

Why the Timothy Leary quilt? Dear Husband said it reminded him of Timothy Leary or Peter Max.

Links to their Wiki entries in case you missed the 60s. (And I think many people did in one way or another.)
